Hello Church!
We are so thankful for another blessed day in Guatemala!
We were up early and started the day with a devotion on rejoicing in all circumstances, led by Willie. After a delicious American-style breakfast of French toast, bacon, and eggs, we were fueled and ready for whatever God had in store.
Day 4 included the pastors’ conference and women’s event organized by Iglesia Galilea. The men and women went their separate ways to be refreshed through teaching, fellowship, and food.
With 170 women in attendance, there was a spirit of joy and gratitude as women gathered from even the most remote areas to celebrate God’s goodness. They were encouraged in the importance of finding their identity in Christ and spending time alone with God in His Word the fuel for all we do in serving Him.
Guatemalan tamales wrapped in banana leaves were a must try for our team! I loved helping distribute the thoughtfully prepared gift bags and watching the little ones practice their English as they asked our team for selfies. Sandy led worship in Spanish, and Rania shared an encouraging message with the help of a translator. We also heard that the pastors’ conference was a tremendous blessing.
After lunch, we joined the members of our team who were already hard at work pouring cement to complete the flooring for the second story of the future children’s ministry building.
It was hard and dirty work, but we were encouraged by the thought of the many future generations who will benefit eternally from hearing God’s Word taught in the classrooms we were helping to build.
Every day I have been struck by the tireless effort and positive attitude of this team. There is truly a spirit of unity, love, and joy that can only come from the Lord.
We finished the day with much-needed showers, a delicious meal provided by La Misión featuring stuffed chicken breast and fettuccine Alfredo, and our nightly debrief. One of the greatest highlights of each day is hearing team members share how they have seen God at work and giving Him all the glory.
This is the first mission trip for me, my husband, and our 15-year-old son, and we have felt so welcomed, loved, and blessed to be part of this amazing Risen Life team. What a privilege it is to participate in what God is doing through His global Church—the big “C” Church!
To God be the glory!
