Hey Church family & friends!
Last week, from Sunday-Thursday (June 7-11), United Community Church had their pre-teen & teen camps! From Sunday to Tuesday, it was camp for pre-teens. From Tuesday evening to Thursday, it was camp for teens (grades 7 and up).
About an hour away, we stayed in cabins off of a beautiful lake. And if you know Finland, you know that they love their saunas. So with that, there were also two saunas at the campground that we were able to use during free time!!
The theme of camp was “Be That Friend” and the theme verses were Luke 11:5-8. We talked about how good of a friend we have in Jesus and connecting that with how we can “be that friend” to our friends. From the Scripture reading, we discussed that a good friend shows up for another friend in a time of need. Jesus is always there for us, and He calls us to do the same with others.
I helped lead the group games at both camps – I taught both groups how to play Amiba (trash can game with ropes – if you are reading this and have been in Josh’s youth group, you should know this game haha). I also helped lead a small group at both camps as well. Camp is a great way to get to know youth, so I’m glad this camp happened so soon after I got here – I feel like I’ve already been able to connect with the youth girls well and it gets me excited for the rest of the summer!
Here are some ways you can be praying: Bible studies start this week for young adults and youth group. Pray that the other intern (Charlie) and I can lead these studies and discussions well and that we allow the Holy Spirit to speak through us. Pray that God would be glorified and that discipleship happens. Please also pray that I make some good friendships while I’m here and make the most of it! Thank you for all your prayers, support, and encouragement! So grateful for my church family.
