On the first Sunday of 2026 , we will start a short four week series – A Light in the Darkness. In John 1:4-5 the Apostle John illuminates our hope in Jesus when he says, “4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” It is easy in the winter season after the holidays to let our minds wander from the hope of the Gospel as the pressures of the world bear down on us once again. Over the next few weeks we want to apply the light of the Gospel to our hearts and minds in the areas of meaning, anxiety and worry, living in community, and having a hope for the future. As we start the new year we want the Gospel, once again, to transform our hearts and minds so that we can walk confidently with Jesus in these dark days.
Our is, what is the meaning of life? Why were you created? Everybody wants to find meaning in their life. When meaning fades or is lost, it is easy to sink in to depression or worse. We will look at Gen 1:26-28, Romans 12:1-2, and 1 Corinthians 10:31 as we think about what the Bible has to say about the meaning of life.
