In this passage we have a glimpse of the early church’s life together as they sought to worship God and advance the Gospel. With the coming of the Holy Spirit the common activities of the new church led to Uncommon Results. People were saved, there was love for one another that overflowed in generosity, and God was worshipped. These results came about as body of Christ focused on gathering together around the teaching of the apostles, fellowship, communion, and prayer. The formula is not any different today. If we will be faithful to do what God has called us to do as spirit-empowered believers, he will do great things in us and in our world.

The book of Acts is the continuing story by Luke of what Jesus has done and is now doing from heaven by his Spirit in the lives of his followers to advance the Kingdom of God on the earth through the Gospel. In this first part of our study of Acts, we will consider the Gospel, the coming of the Spirit, and the birth and growth of the church up through the conversion of Saul in Acts 9.
