    2026 - Zechariah - Prisoners of Hope

    Spiritual renewal is at the heart of Zechariah. In Zechariah 1:3 God’s people are invited to return to a relationship with him through repentance. After many years in exile God is going to show Israel mercy and compassion, redeem them out of their situation, and dwell with and bless the people again. Of course, this will ultimately come through the Messiah, Israel’s righteous king that will bring salvation to Israel and the world through the blood of his covenant. In the midst of defeat, God is bringing new encouragement and hope of a better future through God’s son. Zechariah 8:12 calls the people ‘prisoners of hope’–meaning though they still face the difficulties of the situations they find themselves in, they have a new undeniable hope in the God that he will restore all things and dwell with his people again. We invite you to come and join us as we learn from Zechariah what it means to hope in the Gospel.

Acts 24 - Jesus, The Hope of God's People

This Sunday we will be back in Acts 24 considering the nuts and bolts of the Gospel. In Acts 24 Paul again makes a ready defense of his life with of the Gospel by showing Felix the Roman Governor of Judea that Jesus is the fulfilment of the Jewish scriptures. That salvation, resurrection, and eternal life in Jesus is and has always been the Hope of God’s people. Furthermore, Paul will spend time teaching Felix and his wife what it looks like to live in the Hope of the Gospel throughout life. The nuts and bolts of the Gospel Luke records for us in this chapter will help us place our hope in Jesus and live in that hope throughout our lives.

In Part III of our Acts Series, “To the Ends of the Earth,” we will follow Paul and his ministry as he begins his journey to Jerusalem and then to Rome in Acts 21-28. Acts 20:22 tells us that the Spirit has constrained Paul to go to Jerusalem and that imprisonment and afflictions await him in every city. Throughout these chapters we will see Paul continue to preach the Gospel as the Spirit gives opportunity, and Paul will continue to lose more of his life in service to the cross, becoming more like Jesus in the process. We invite you to join us as God challenges us through the life of Paul to lose our life to save it as we follow Jesus.
